The Big One!

It's so unbelievable that Dillan is old enough to hunt. This was his first year. He went archery hunting a few times but didn't see anything to shoot at. However, he has shot a rabbit and a few woodchucks with his bow. He seems to have a real knack for being a great marksman. Case in point - He has only shot guns 3 or 4 times. The gun he used for this season was borrowed. He fired 3 shots at this big prize and the one shot that proved potent was the only one that hit the deer and it went right through the heart! Now that's amazing!

What a special day for Dillan and I. Dillan's first time attending the temple. We did baptisms for the dead. He loved the temple and I was so honored to be with him for his first experience. I'm so thankful for the restored gospel and for the blessings that if gives to all mankind past, present and future. Our Father in Heaven is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow. It's awesome that we have the opportunity to perform sacred ordinances in the temple for those who have passed on from this life so they can obtain eternal glory. I feel so humbled to have the opportunity to participate in these ordinances. I love the gospel and I'm so thankful for it's restoration in these, the latter days. I've been so blessed in my life, even when I didn't deserve to be. I'm thankful for our Savior, Jesus Christ. For His atonement and for His love for me. I am also thankful for the opportunity to be a mother to 4 beautiful children. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the only church here on this earth that has the restored priesthood and a latter day Prophet, Thomas S Monson. I know that he is a true prophet of God and that he holds all of the keys of the priesthood. I know that this church teaches the entire truth of His gospel. I also know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and that it is true scripture.
I'm thankful for prayer. I have learned through prayer, that God knows me personally and that He loves me more than I can even imagine possible. What a blessing we have to communicate with our Heavenly Father and for Him to communicate with us.
Life is so tough sometimes but we are never alone and we always have help if we will just ask for it. God loves each one of us.

We went to the bookstore before we went to the temple and Dillan got a new tie but not the easy tie. Thank goodness our friends Deric and Heath were there in the parking lot. I have no idea how to tie a neck tie without written directions. Derek tied the tie while Heath took care of his sweet little boy. It takes a village to raise a child and 2 men to teach Dillan how to tie a tie. Thanks guys!

These cute little monsters had a very fun time trick or treating. The first time that Meagan painted Peyton's face, he cried when he looked at himself in the mirror. Looks like he got over that and let his mom try it again.
It is just so amazing to me that I am a grandma! I am so thankful for modern technology that gives me the opportunity to see my beautiful grandsons so much! It's hard to believe that this little guy, Owen, is almost 6 months old. He is such a cutey.

The next Cake Boss

Dillan had a project to do for school last week that required me buying cake decorating icing. I was not throwing away all that was left so I told him we'd make sugar cookies this weekend. He waited (a little impatiently) until I was finished with my cleaning and shopping (even though he was with me and helping me) so he could make cookies. He is loving life!
We had an entire day together today. Just the 2 of us. It occured to me tonight, while I was watching him roll out the cookies, that this event is a bitter sweet thing for me. The sweet is that just the two of us are spending time together. The bitter is that before too long he will be the only one at home. (not saying the girls are moving out any time soon but they ARE 19 and 22.)
The real reality check is that he is going to be 13 in a few months and his time to move on to his own life isn't that far away.
That's what grandbabies are for! To come and visit grandma and grandpa so we aren't lonely.

This was the sunrise this morning behind my house! It sure was beautiful and amazing. However, "Red sunset at night-sailors delight. Red sunrise in the morning-sailors warning." It wasn't a nice weather day today. Rain and some snow.

This is our home and our cute little pumpkin stand. We sold pumpkins for some friends. It was so fun! I have come up with the idea to build my very own produce stand for next fall.
Anyone want to teach me how to build something out of wood?
